    Raised in Eugene, Oregon. Late of Castlecrag and Roseville, Burlington Canada, Portland, Tokyo and many other places.

    Died unexpectedly after a wonderful and eventful year with family and friends.

    Devoted husband of Jill, brother of David "Buddy" Thompson (dec), and much loved and proud father of Dermot, Sloan and Matthew. Father-in-law to Caroline, Tee and Renae. Grandfather to Clementine, Holly, Phoebe and Avalon. Uncle to Alex, Laura, Jeremy and Evan.

    Proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Officer of the United States Navy, world traveller, businessman, tennis player, family man and a true gentleman who made lasting impressions. A devout Catholic.

    Requiem Mass for the Eternal Repose of the Soul of PHELAN will be celebrated in St Leonard's Catholic Church, cnr Willoughby and Donnelly Roads, Naremburn on Friday, October 11, 2013, commencing at 11.00am.

    Following a private cremation, all are welcome to gather for drinks and refreshments to honour Phelan "Skipper" Thompson.

    It was such a shock to hear Phelan had passed away. My Mondays and Tuesdays won't be the same not seeing Phelan and Fred coming into the Post Office. If ever we saw Phelan without Fred we would immediately panic that Fred had died. Unfortunately it was Phelan's turn first. May he rest in peace and we will miss such a friendly customer.
